Passionate about photography? Prove it and create the 'Image Of The Year'!

Each year thousands of photographers stream to the annual PHOTO & FILM EXPO at The Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg.
The 20 000 odd photographers attending are treated to presentations by some of the leading local and international photographic talents and a showcase of amazing works.
This year however photographers have been given the opportunity to submit their own best work to be displayed at the event and stand in line to win incredible prizes for doing so!

The IMAGE OF THE YEAR contest is a brand new initiative in partnership with IMAGEBRIEF where an annual 'Brief' will be supplied and the image that best depicts the brief will be deemed the overall winner.

The 'Brief':
LIVE PHOTOGRAPHY is this year’s contest theme, photographers should submit images which depict their passion for photography. The image may be of any *publicly acceptable subject matter and should illustrate how much passion the art form invokes. Editing is permitted but the image should retain the 'feel' of a photograph.
The brief is quite open and judges will accept any image that depicts passion for photography whether it be a beauty shot, landscape shot, fashion shot etc. as long as the image clearly evokes an emotion for the art form by showing to what lengths people (or representations, actual or implied) will go for their passion (photography). A few example images have been uploaded below but photographers are encouraged to get creative. If you’re unsure about the scope of the brief then feel free to mail for confirmation.

Images judges feel are irrelevant or outside the brief will be deleted. Since this is a public contest and winning images will be published it’s important that the subject matter is publicly acceptable. Judges will make the final decision in this regard.

How to enter:
Simply click the 'ENTER COMPETITION' tab above and submit your details and best images electronically. The contest is FREE to enter and is open to photographers of ALL skill levels. We are looking for that perfect image!
Each entrant may submit up to 3 relevant images, multiple profiles are not permitted and may result in disqualification at the judges’ discretion.

Judging:
A panel of experienced photographers, advertising agency executives and industry professionals will decide who makes the finals. The final 20 images will be displayed at the PHOTO & FILM EXPO where visitors to the event will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite images and stand in line to win prizes. The judges will then select the winners who will be announced at the final Prize Giving at 5pm on Sunday 21st October at the event.
The competition organisers will cover costs for printing and displaying the finalists’ work and provide finalists with complimentary entry passes to the event.

The Prizes:
Making the finals is an honour and the top 20 photographers will be awarded with certificates to this effect. There is only 1 ultimate winner of ‘Image Of The Year’ though and they will walk off with the ‘GRAND PRIZE’.
